Today is Shavuot, thus Chag Sameach!

Today’s photo is from artist Ran Morin and it is his ‘floating tree’.

I love this whole idea and the realization of this piece has turned out splendidly. It is certainly a tourist stop on most tours in Jaffo.

From Israel21c.org,

“Ran Morin’s unusual sculpture Orange Suspendu draws thousands of tourists each year who stand beside it and marvel. Like many others who admire his work, Israeli environment artist Ran Morin’s favorite sculpture is a centerpiece of Jaffa’s Old City. Although the artist labors years, sometimes decades, over projects spanning a number of Jerusalem’s historic archeology sites, it’s the orange tree, Orange Suspendu that hovers both in situ and in the mind.

Created in 1993, Orange Suspendu hangs in an entranceway to a cobblestone path leading to galleries and art studios, where it is held about a meter above ground by wires. The unusual city landmark – only seconds away from the Mediterranean Sea – draws thousands of tourists each year who stand beside it, marveling.

This is true even for those who don’t know the history of the famous Israeli export, the Jaffa orange which was packed and shipped from the Jaffa Port starting in the late 1800s, and which continues to be a favorite the world over. The Jaffa orange tree is also a symbol for the local Arab Israeli population, who share the multicultural city with their Jewish neighbors.”

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day, wherever this find you.

Today’s photo of the day is another photo from the Old City of Jaffa/Yafo.

This is of the main city sign that introduces you to the area.

While I was wandering through the maze of streets within Jaffa, I came upon this cute little blue Vespa and had to share it with y’all! Wandering around that area is one of my favorite activities to do when in Tel-Aviv and I always try to make time to “get lose” when visiting Jaffa. There are endless settings and backdrops for photographers and so many other things to keep you busy for hours, if you like really looking around places for hidden delights.

So if your ever find yourself in Jaffa, slow down and take your time. Keep your eyes open as well, because it’s a guarantee that you’ll see something quite remarkable there.

TLV-Yafo

Hello again.

I am writing this outside of Israel and thought of a great photo project I wanted to do while away from my Vespa. I recently purchased one of those cute little Rapi-dough Pizza Cutters and thought it would be a great idea, during my travels, to use it as a prop when I found interesting backgrounds to snap. Thus, the birth of this project! (Plus it isn’t always easy to shoot certain locations with the real ‘pa, so this might open up some opportunities for me.)

I was able to snap a few photos from the Tel Aviv-Yafo area before jet setting to the states, so I’ll share those with y’all first. This will be a regular photo post while I travel aboard, as I want to challenge myself to be creative with this idea and find interesting locations to shoot with this little Vespa of mine. I hope you’ll enjoy this scenic journey with me.

Beep beep!

P.S. I have also created a little mini-film of the Yafo-TLV beach from that day that I filmed. It was overcast and raining, which made for a lovely day on an empty beachfront.

I hope you’ll enjoy it.

RoxyVespa, that’s who!
